Tessa Lockwell
Name: Tessa Lockwell
Age: She looks around Nineteen, much older than that.
Gender: Female
Appearance: Here
History:
What could one expect from a girl as seemingly normal as Tessa? She was always odd one, even as a 'child'. Though for one to fully understand it, they would need to know her background background history. Tessa is not human. She is a fairy, without the wings. She abandoned those years ago. The young woman had a look at her world, how lazy her people were with their fluttering instead of using their legs, squandering the great potential they had just to get things done and engage in the more pleasurable things in life with no regard to the well being of others, to the adventurous side of life. She felt as if she wanted to be different, she was always different. By her own tiny hands, she ripped her wings out. Interestingly enough she can still hover and fly. Many people are baffled by why this is, though a few of the elders from her past life have a theory. They believed she grasped a real point about being a fairy.
Many of their newer generation were so focused on their wings. How to earn them, once they got them, and how they flaunted them off like they were their meal tickets. Tessa worked fine without them, did whatever she needed to do, and she still had her abilities because a part of her was able to work around that. Though.. After many failed attempts to try and duplicate this kind of rareness, they could only conclude that Tessa grasped the concept, the other fairies decided to throw their lives away from the overwhelming amount of blood loss that they endured because of their wings being ripped out. One didn't think they were just detachable, right? Oh, no. They were melded into the fairy, a small rip or cut in the wing area and the fairy would be bleeding significantly.
In the world of fairies, everyone was assigned a job. There were the ones who provided for their own kind. Whether it was food, clothes, or other needs. Then there were the ones who provided things for the humans. Some gave humans knowledge of how to make and design clothing or how to start a simple town and mold it, within time, into a wonderful living environment for other humans. Finally, there were the ones who were held highest above all, save for the elders. Those who would cast judgment. The 'Grim Reapers' of the fairy world. They, the Shinigamis, and fairies had come to a consensus long ago, seeing as many people had been falling, and while there were a lot of shinigami, it was too much work. Every few thousands of years, a few new fairies would be chosen to have the ability to cast judgment, and decide whether one is to die or one is to live when their time approached. Tessa was one of those. They figured she was one that could pass judgment, with her straight forward personality and her quick wits. They tried her. They gave her a spot in the council and had her pass judgment on what she had seen, heard, and everything.
The girl was a bit rocky at first but she eventually passed with flying, colors. The irony there was quite funny to Tessa herself, others were sensitive about saying that to her the day she 'graduated'. She was granted a 'parasol.' This 'parasol' was actually a very powerful weapon. One know how the shinigami traditionally work with scythes, right? These fairies were granted reflection mirrors. These would reflect on the person's life, how they acted, what they did, the whole nine yards. And once it was over, Tessa would give judgment. The sad thing is, most of the people she would kill would be bandits, rapists, things of that nature.
Evil people. She despised people like that and while she normally felt that nobody deserved to die, people who took other's lives deserved to have their life taken. In this life and in any others they may go to. She was quite happy with her job. It was easy, she would be teleported, so to speak, to the place where someone was to die. If they were taking too long to die, she would finish the job with ease. The person's body would have to be sliced into pieces by her own sort of scythe granted to her, to make it easier to be transported into the mirror, and then the person's soul would either go through, signifying that they were good and would be going to the place humans called 'heaven', or the mirror would emit an intense bright light and the spirit would be shredded to pieces, signifying that they were an evil person in life and would be sent to where humans called hell, to forever be tortured by what they had done in their life, or worse.
At first, it was expected that Tessa would be disgusted by the job. All of the blood and whatnot. Everyone thought Tessa would be scarred because she always seemed to be so optimistic and playful. What they didn't expect was that she ended up loving the job. She was so fascinated with humans, how they acted, reacted, everything. The day they allowed her to 'become' a human was the best piece of news she had ever received. So, the process went on. She became human, looking no different than she had when she was a fairy, save for the clothing style. Though she didn't mind this, humans styles of this time were something she loved. So many frills, underskirts, small hats, ribbons. She couldn't get enough!
And so started the life of Tessa Lockwell, human woman. For a while she posed as a tailor in one place. Her love for creating clothing started to blossom. She started out making simple dresses for rich ladies who tried getting men, and it soon flourished to a style similar to what she wears nowadays. Though.. Needless to say she has grown much better throughout the years. She had a love for bustiers and corsets, as well as Lolita esque styles. (This would be a good point to mention she has another special ability. Being a fairy, and an unusual one at that, at their coming of age ceremony, they are granted two unusual abilities.
One of Tessa's was the ability to time travel. She can do so whenever she wishes and she has an extended knowledge of the future, future fashion styles, everything. She loves it. It also comes in handy when she isn't particularly happy with the time period she is in. Her second ability was a shape shifting ability to help with her job. When one is encountering people that are to die, it's easier to coax them and have them agree to it when a loved one is delivering the news. She found this out through out the years and was more than glad to know that it worked out.)
She moved from the town, though. Why, one may ask? The plague started to come into play around that time. People were dropping like flies and soon enough, Tessa was up to her knees in souls that needed judgment. That was no joke, either. After that was finished and all of the bodies were disposed of she looked around for a new town. Where was that? None other than London. Tessa fell in love with the place, the people, and they, in return, seemed to take an interest in her for her unusual mannerisms and 'accent'.
Now that she was in a different place, she needed work and a suitable place to be living in. she ran into her soon to be good friend and 'boss', Mr. Kaito. The man was a rather unusual one, and the two shared great chats with one another. She always liked talking to him. The two were soon close enough for him to suggest her becoming an assistant. Now, he didn't own a regular, run of the mill job. No. He was a funeral director, an Undertaker. He put people in the ground, it was such a perfect way for Tessa to continue on with her job! They discussed her secret, only to know that she ended up not being the only one with a 'secret'.
