Another day. Living in London, being alive, and best of all? Being an assistant funeral director! Now, one may be thinking 'What's so wonderful about that? You're around dead people and the dying all day long!', but I can definitely attest and argue a little. She was never sure why, but each morning she woke up, she would be narrating her thoughts, her dreams, items of that nature. It was just a normal day and a normal routine. The young woman got up, ruffling her long hair. What was it about this beautiful day that held a secret message? The young woman, Tessa, just couldn't figure it out! Either way, she was more than excited to continue on. She twirled around, only thinking of what she would possibly wear.
So many options, and yet it was painstaking work to figure out which she would favor for the day! It soon came to her. She twirled, basically, to her closet, pulling out an array of unusual clothes. All that, coincidentally, she had made herself. Never in her life had she been happier to have learned how to make her own clothes from a numerous amount of fabrics. She doesn't spend any money on clothing, no, it all goes to food, furniture and most importantly: Fabric. It was a good thing she was good friends with the town's tailor. Plus, with all of the people dying more and more, he put prices down, so she would spend close to nothing!
Tessa continued on with the daily routines but skipped the eating part. In all truth she really didn't need it.. Not because she was in perfect shape but because of a tiny secret of hers. The need to eat was a very trivial thing to the woman buut.. She was a sucker for food, and her metabolism was something that baffled the doctors in their town and others. The thought made her giggle. How unaware and ignorant they were of a being such as her. She continued on, not wanting to be late for work. That was something she absolutely would not tolerate.
A while later she was there in a wonderfully..Melancholy..Looking shop. This was her second home. How wonderful it was to work there. The first thing to greet her was the smell of death. Or...Those that were close to dying. Such a wonderful stench to welcome the senses in the morning! She scurried in as fast as she could, noticing her boss had been reading a book before looking up, a wide smile pressing itself onto his already thinned lips. His pale face seemed to glow in the slightest of ways. "Ah, Tessa, it's a pleasure to see you back here. Shall we choose which coffin you will temporarily reside in? We have a new shipment." He spoke, his voice hosting a hint of uncanniness, which was masked for the most part by how attractive it sounded. Her boss was also an unusual one.
Medium length hair that seemed to gently spike in all directions yet a small section twirled gracefully toward his right side, laying only slightly below his right shoulder. Said hair always covered his eyes, it was a rare moment to see the unique orbs under it. The reason for this was because he had a scar running vertically on his eyes, they almost seemed like face make up. His hair was an unusual shade of gray, underlaying that were his two eyes, shaded to a captivating and almost feral reddish color, only slight tinges of gold here and there. Tessa always marveled with her own unusually pink eyes whenever she got a chance to see them. He was a tall figure, not so muscular but one punch would send someone through the wall. Something that had distracted and thrown off many in his previous years. His sense of style was the same as Tessa's, since she often made him clothes in exchange for a few extra shillings every now and then.
"Morning.. And to your question, I will take this one." She purred softly, immediately hopping into a shiny onyx coffin, the inside padded and feeling softer than a pillow used by aristocratic fatcats of the time. She gasped at the feel, giggling before looking to her boss, "Mister Kai, would you be so kind as to close it?" The man only chuckled, walking over and placing his large, pale hands on the coffin's top. "Have a nice time in there, my dear." he purred, closing it completely. Another day. This was one of the nicest coffins they had in stock, Tessa knew someone would eventually appear and take in interest for this, whether it be for themselves or a deceased one. It was only a matter of time.
A while passed, people came, others went. She hadn't seen daylight yet and she almost lost hope before hearing close footsteps to the coffin. She licked her fake, sharpened fangs. Though they seemed surprisingly real. "Honey, I think your father would be fine in this-" She heard a woman's voice before popping out, hissing and baring her sharp fangs. The woman screamed in shock and pushed herself behind her husband, the man having a look of shock on his face. "Is this how you treat your customers?!" He exclaimed, looking to Kai. The male chuckled and motioned over to Tessa. "Ohh, that's not nice. Have a sense of humor.. After all, we are the only Undertakers here." She purred, there hadn't been any others, and one would have to go quite a long time to find another. One could say they had slayed their competition.
The two sighed. Tessa giggled and twirled around a little before heading around. "Hope you don't mind us using this one." she motioned over to a dark wood one, running her fingers over it the smooth onyx wood of the coffin she had been temporarily 'residing' in, "This one is more functional, rather large and easy for little old me to carry~" After that she was heading around and had the coffin in her arms. She headed out of the store in excitement, the three following behind. It was so unusual to see someone so excited about death. She always had an interesting fascination with it.
The way the human body basically shut down, the decomposition process, all so fascinating. Time flew by, they were in the the graveyard and Tessa got to work, digging the grave, putting the headstones, everything. She thought for a moment, smiling softly. Recently, she had been receiving love letters from a secret admirer each time she had thrown someone in a grave. She hoped she would get another..
