What was it about this man that Tessa found so familiar? It wasn't his looks... She would have remembered seeing a human as..beautiful...as him. No. Wait... That wasn't the right word for human males. What was it..? I can't for the life of me remember.. Funny thing was she was very good with the human languages, she'd normally pick up on any words and figure out a way to find out the meaning, be it by extensive research or witty tunes. It soon came to her, she gently snapped her fingers. Handsome! That's the male equivalent. She looked over to the male, noticing he had a slightly funny look on his face before he smiled, blushing softly as their eyes locked with one another's for a moment. And yet, it seemed as if it was dragging on in such a lovely way.
As if time had stopped just for them. Tessa looked away for only a second to hear a crashing noise. Soon enough, the baker was on the floor, she presumed. Tessa jogged around to where he was, unable to stop herself from giggling. He was covered in flour! "Ah.. I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself.. You do look a bit funny with that flour on you. Aside from that, are you alright?" She knelt down, offering a hand to the male.
Good, god, Cyril, what have you done!? She must think you're an idiot for falling, and then to have flour fall on top of you? Oh, how I've lost my touch! Wait..She's giggling. Ah! Such a sweet sound! I want to hear so much more from you, dear Tessa.. How he wish he could scoop her up in his arms, tell her how he felt. But he was sure she would get the local authorities on his tail in an instant. Didn't want to risk that at all. He noticed he had been quiet. Painfully quiet. His face was engulfed by a hearty red pigment,"Uh.. Oh, yes! I.. I am fine, i'm normally not this clumsy, but I guess someone must have slipped something into my water..!"He chuckled weakly, the inside of his mind slapping himself for such a comment. Of all the things he could have said.. And he had to choose something that would, potentially, make him look like an idiot! Now, who in their right mind would slip something into his water? There was barely anyone around to blame for that! Nice, Cyril, Nice... He sighed inwardly at that.
Tessa smiled a little bit, waiting for the male to take her hand. He sat there in an awkward silence before he realized she was offering a hand. "Oh! Um.. Forgive me... I don't get very many pretty customers like yourself." Why not try to play a flirty card? To hopefully eliminate his possible reputation as a klutz in this girl's mind. Tessa blinked a bit. How was she supposed to react to something like that? Yes, she has been told that she was pretty before, but that was a comment normally spoken from disgusting human males who wanted her body. Not something she appreciated at all. She smiled a little, giggling softly yet again as she shook her head, "You are too kind, sir." She purred softly. The male held up a hand, shaking his head.
"No, no.You address my dog as 'Sir'. My name is Cyril." he purred charmingly, figuring by the fact that she didn't mention anything that he was in the clear. Tessa blinked and stared at him just before laughing. This was one entertaining human! She liked him already, but the haunting feeling was still there. She felt like she knew him.. She was stuck in thoughts before the male headed back to his spot, pulling out a sweet pastry. He gently tapped at her shoulder and once Tessa turned, he offered the pastry to her."Careful now, it's hot." He purred, genuinely concerned about the girl not burning her lips or her mouth. Tessa took his advice, mouth forming a tiny 'o' before she blew on the hot mass of bread, sugar, and whatever was inside.
One small bite was all she needed to taste. This man's pastries were to die for! Oh... If only she knew the growing irony behind that. His eyes sparkled with hope. He hoped she liked it. Since he knew of her affection, more like obsession, with sweets, he figured they would be seeing a lot of each other. Or.. He hoped they would, at the very least. He coughed, embarrassed to know he was staring at her for quite a while. Good thing she was so wrapped up in his sweet to really notice. Once she was finished, he looked away a little, smiling shyly before the words flew off his lips, "So...? How was it?" "Absolutely heavenly."This man..Cyril, was it? He was so cute! She just wanted to hug him then and there. His shyness, clumsiness, goodness she was glad Kaito had pushed her to come there that day!
"One of the best sweets I have tasted in the longest of times. Over the years I have taken a great liking to sweets of all kinds. It's sad I can rarely find someone who makes them as well as you made that one. It makes me even happier to know I have been paid today!" Really, Tessa was excited to be here. She would be able to buy sweets and taste whatever Cyril had to offer.. Or.. Whatever she could afford, at least. This seemed to please Cyril, she noticed a smile forming on his slender lips. "I hope you don't mind my sticking around a little bit more. I would like to buy a few more sweets.. And pay for the last one, of course."
She'd expect that he would want money for the sweet she ate. Tessa learned throughout the years that there were rarely any humans who gave sweets away because of their kind hearts. Now.. She had come across a few, namely kind old men with not much time left on their plates, but other than that it was rare. And she found that she had a strange feeling each time they offered her a sweet free of charge. Later on in years, she had come to learn that said feeling was 'Guilt.' Why? Tessa didn't think it was very fair for someone to do the work and not be paid anything. But once she spoke of the word 'pay', Cyril seemed to shake his head intensely.
"Oh, no. That simply won't do. I won't allow you to lift a finger and pay." This came as a surprise to Tessa. Why was he being so nice? Oh, dear. She hoped he wasn't one of those nasty pig men she had encountered before. but.. By the look in his eyes, she felt that it couldn't be that. "But I must pay you somehow. I'd feel wrong taking sweets and not giving you anything in return.." Cyril hadn't said another word. His gloved hand took Tessa's small hand and brought it to his lips, at that moment he pecked at it oh so lightly with his lips before heading back to where the giant stove was. "Please, do sit down. Make yourself comfortable." He purred softly. Tessa nodded, seating herself almost immediately.
Hours, and numerous sweets of all sorts, had passed. Tessa was still there, with Cyril, exchanging a wonderful array of conversations. It seemed the two had shared a lot in common. Needless to say, neither had told the other of their 'dirty secrets' in fear that the other may run away. Cyril soon had a momentarily look of amusement on his face after hearing of her profession of choice. So, she was in the death business? THAT was why she was often putting people in the ground. He thought she did it for fun.. It was easy to notice that, while Cyril had been 'allegedly' stalking her, he didn't pick up small details as to what her profession was. He would only watch and follow her whenever she was coming back from work or taking moonlit strolls around London.
Regardless of her profession, he found it even more interesting to know that she was intersted in things like that. It will only make it easier that day I come clean and tell you how I truly feel.. As she looked away for a moment, Cyril had a look full of love, one that was very unlike him and akin to a smitten school boy. Once Tessa looked back, he noticed she was sporting a somewhat saddened look, "I think I should be going now. It's getting late, you must be ready to close shop.. Also, it can get very dangerous at night." She spoke softly, standing up. She bowed her head a little, "Thank you very much, for both the sweets and conversation. I think I will be coming by here more often, I had quite a lot of fun." she smiled sweetly and started to walk away. Cyril got up to his feet quickly and stumbled, slightly over to her, grasping her wrist gently so she would stop.
"Tessa, wait..!" He thought his heart stopped as she looked back to him, eyes filled with raw curiosity, "Yes, Cyril?" She spoke. If only she knew what effect those two words had on the male. He felt as if he would burst. This girl would be the death of him! He smiled before withdrawing his hand, "U-Um..." He coughed, trying to gather words, "You said it yourself, my dear, the streets of London are dangerous at night. At least let me close up shop and walk you home. Please?" Tessa was rather shocked. Nobody offered to walk her home before. She was too surprised to react with words, so instead she eagerly bobbed her head up and down, signifying that that was a yes. Cyril wasted no time, he closed up shop and got into his normal styled clothes before offering his arm, "Shall we, my lady?"
